Nissan unveils all-new Micra EV

Nissan Micra morphs into all-electric city runabout

The all-new sixth generation Nissan Micra is set to return to the B-segment in 2025 as a fully connected, pure EV.

Audacious and assertive design

The new Micra boasts a refreshed and distinctive exterior look that combines a premium exterior finish and a good helping of attitude with an SUV-like design, simple and uncluttered surfaces and subtle details throughout. The Micra rides on large 18-inch wheels, framed by a dark wheel trim.

Iconic headlamps protrude slightly from the clean, inclined surface angling up from the numberplate to the bonnet. At the rear, the taillights are defined by a simple but ornate LED light design.

Understated interior

The interior recaptures a theme that has been at the heart of the model across all previous generations, a simple understated elegance. The latest iteration also pays tribute to its Japanese heritage with subtle design features such as a moulded outline of Japan’s most famous landmark, Mount Fuji, incorporated into the storage space between the front seats.

The interior is home to a 10.1-inch configurable display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display covering the full width of the dashboard and providing a sleek feel for navigation, audio and phone functions. Front and rear upholstery varies according to grade but offers customers three distinct trims to suit their preferred interior ambience for a premium feel.

At under 4 metres and less than 1.8 metres wide and in a five-door configuration, the new Micra punches above its weight and is perfectly suited for urban life.

Seamless EV driving

Available for the first time as a fully electric model, the new Micra offers hassle free EV driving that is perfect for daily life.

The Micra will be offered with two battery options. The 40kWh derivative offers 90kW and 225Nm and a driving range of 308km. The 52kWh variant offers 110kW and 245Nm and a 408km driving range.

Thanks to a 100kW DC charger, quick charging from 15 to 80% takes a convenient 30 minutes.

The Micra has been engineered to provide performance that goes above and beyond previous generations. Being significantly lighter than its peers and tipping the scales at just 1400kg, allows for increased efficiency, performance and handling compared to its heavier competitors.

Thanks to a battery that is located low down, independent front suspension and a multi-link rear setup, the new Micra is set to offer best in class driving dynamics along with a lively driving performance that lives up to its personality.

Intuitive technology

Integrated throughout the new Micra are purposeful and seamless technology features, all designed to provide an uplifting and connected on-board and off-board driving experience for drivers and passengers. NissanConnect with Google built-in services creates a car that is an extension of the customer.

NissanConnect also elevates the EV ownership experience with off-board connectivity via the NissanConnect services app which provides features such as battery state of charge, car location, charging history and remote control of various features such as cabin temperature and charging schedule.

Advanced safety systems

At the heart of all Nissan vehicles is a commitment to safety and the Micra is no different. The Micra is available with Nissan ProPilot assist, as well as a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assist technologies that provide an impressive level of reassurance for the driver and passengers.

Availability

Sales of the new Micra will commence in Europe later this year. South African introduction and timing thereof is yet to be confirmed.
